'Nastaran' (by Ustad Mohammad Omar) played by Noor Mohammad Khan on rabab. This song is dedicated to Mir Mohammad, a magical rabab player from Radio Afghanistan and my rabab inspiration.

  • Dear Noor Khan, I read your comments and visited your sites a couple of days ago, but decided not to reply right away because I was too excited! It's very nice to meet you. I studied with Mehr Mohammad Khan for a few months, and then left Kabul in '79 and have been living in Canada almost since. Oh man, the recordings are excellent, and Mehr Mohammad played so beautiful.

  • @TheHajisahib ... yo bul khabara Haji Sahib... your description really makes me think it is the same Mir/Mehr Mohammad "He was not given the Ustad title, but for sure his Rubab was magical." Yes, so magical.

  • @TheHajisahib ... below should appear my 'too long for youtube' message, Haji Sahib, that you can read top to bottom, Insh'Allah

  • @TheHajisahib ... Asalaamu aleikum Haji Sahib. Very excited to receive you comment. Did you check out more of my channel? There is another one of me playing called "Afghan Rabab Tune - Noor Khan" that you may recognize that Mir Jan used to play a lot. There are also 2 recordings of him entitled "Kabul Afghanistan 1978-79 - Rabab & Tabla" and "Mullah Mohammad Jan - Mir Mohammad - Afghan rabab."

  • @TheHajisahib ... My recordings were made on 3 different night in the winter of 1978 in a small restaurant where my friend was cook. We arranged these musical evenings and would invite tourists to come and eat and hear the music and give the money to Mir Jan. His brother Jan Mohd played tabla with him. I think it usually amounted to around 1000 Afs or so. Seemed a lot then. He had a small barber shop if I remember correctly and used to ride about on his bicycle.

  • @TheHajisahib ... I didn't really study with him but have always considered him my mentor as he totally inspired me and I first learned so much from watching him and studying the tapes I recorded. What years did you study with him? Do you have a photo of him by any chance? I don't have any pictures of him for some reason.I would so love to see his sweet face again.

  • @TheHajisahib ...Did you see my website? Many beautiful picts of Afghanistan from 75-79. Google "pbase noor khan." Where are you now a days? Do you still play. تاسو پښتو زبه ویلې شی که نه After being in Afghanistan I lived in Peshawar from 82-92. Very nice to meet you. Khuda hafiz
