I was blessed beyond belief to see Honeyboy play just before he passed. He was playing the after show for a giant jazz fundraiser at the Apollo theatre (of all places) in Harlem called "A great night in Harlem". Even though the event's purpose was to raise money for aged jazz/blues musicians, only 8 or 9 people stayed behind to hear him. According to the New York Times obituary his last show was at a festival in Mississippi in April. I saw him May 19th...

I believe he was the last one to have known and played with Robert Johnson? That is what my friend always told me?

Got to see him perform twice and meet him personally. Great man, great entertainer at 96. A true living legend. I'm afraid there just aren't anymore like him. All the great ones have now gone on. Gonna have a great blues band in heaven. R.I.P Honeyboy. Never forget you.
