He was our only link to Robert Johnson. He was the only person who could tell us how it was like playin with Johnson. Now he' gone.

I was blessed beyond belief to see Honeyboy play just before he passed. He was playing the after show for a giant jazz fundraiser at the Apollo theatre (of all places) in Harlem called "A great night in Harlem". Even though the event's purpose was to raise money for aged jazz/blues musicians, only 8 or 9 people stayed behind to hear him. According to the New York Times obituary his last show was at a festival in Mississippi in April. I saw him May 19th...
