**I realize the spelling error in "unrehearsed" but there are too many sites pointing to this video to take it down and correct that right now but it will be corrected when traffic slows down. Thank you."

Almost homeless Cellist Eli Potash plays on the streets of Salt Lake City, Utah. Many people know of Eli and his cello entertainment and he has become part of the downtown experience.

In this video The Daniel Day Trio mentioned that they wanted to get Eli a new cello and I asked to film the story. We finally tracked Eli down and DDT asked if they could set up and play with him some Christmas songs. Then at the end of playing surprised him with a lighter, better cello than the one that he has been using.

Thank you for viewing and please spread and share this video of a beautiful example of the Christmas spirit!

  • I think this show us that the very talented people in this world are ignored, Don´t understand why people like to hear other garbage music rather than this, and of course I have to say that when more people like Eli and this guys exist, the world will be a better place to live.

  • Most of the time I hate people. But sometimes I love them.

  • This made my day. Thank you so much, and God bless you for this beautiful act of kindness and generosity!

  • This made me cry... I was touched...

(this is my first comment ever.....)

  • I almost cried!! :((

  • This is so amazing! I love seeing him play where I go to the movies. I think he sometimes plays outside of the capital theater. Amazing story!!

  • Your video made me feel the spirit of Christmas more than anything else this season. Long live the Daniel Day Trio and Eli in downtown SLC!

  • Right around the corner from where this video was shot is the Broadway Deli. The owner would never admit it but he has been providing Eli free meals and a warm/cool place to rest for some time. Support them in supporting Eli and buy a sandwich next time you pass by. You might even run into Eli snoozing at the counter!

  • I remember the first time I heard Eli while standing in line at the Broadway. I knew instantly that this profoundly talented musician was professionally trained and gave money not out of sympathy but because his sound was very moving. Later I read an article in the SLC Weekly that talked briefly of his professional career as a member of a symphony orchestra In RI. I was not surprised at all.

  • I've met Eli a few times, he is very intelligent, talented, and has a big heart. This was wonderful to see, thank you!
