Come along aboard Thomson 82K, 737-800 service from Manchester, UK to Funchal, Madeira. Video features taxi queue and takeoff from runway 23R on a rare fair weather day at MAN, followed by the famously hair raising curving visual approach to runway 05, taxi in, and shutdown at LPMA.

EGCC scenery is from Gary Summons (UK2000); LPMA scenery is from Aerosoft. FS2004, wideFS, and Project Magenta networked over 6 PCs, with three projectors warped over a 24' curved screen providing the visuals. Hardware components are from Flight Deck Solutions, CPFlight, Poldragonet, SISMO, and ACE. The seats are out of a real UPS 727-100QPF. Yes, I know the yokes aren't linked and there are visible projector seams on the screen. The latter is on the "to do" list, along with about 50 other projects.

Enjoy!

  • You can't takeoff before the threshold mate xD

  • @gunnygundog Ummm, yeah you can. What do you think the purpose of a displaced threshold is? (Hint: it's for obstacle clearance for arriving aircraft, while still allowing more usable runway for departing aircraft). There are a very few certain airports where this isn't the case (SFO) comes to mind, but under normal circumstances, a displaced threshold behaves like any other part of the runway when it comes to departing aircraft.
