Anne Boleyn is one of the most famous queens in English history, though she ruled for just three years. The daughter of an ambitious knight and niece of the duke of Norfolk, Anne spent her adolescence in France. When she returned to England, her wit and style were her greatest charms. She had a circle of admirers and became secretly engaged to Henry Percy. She also entered the service of Katharine of Aragon. But she soon caught the eye of Henry VIII. He ordered Percy from court and tried to make Anne his mistress. She refused. Her sister, Mary, had been the king's mistress and gained little from it but scandal. Her hopes with Percy dashed, Anne demanded that the king marry her. She waited nearly seven years for Henry to obtain an annulment. It finally took an irrevocable breach with the Holy See before they wed in 1533. But she was unable to give Henry the son he desperately needed and their marriage ended tragically for Anne. She was executed on patently false charges of witchcraft, incest and adultery on 19 May 1536. Her daughter, Elizabeth, would become England's greatest queen.

  • They can't just say that she was 35 when she died, no one knows for certain, because no one knows the actual year she was born. It wasn't written down, so people can only guess.

  • @fiorgelatto Marie Antoinette wasn't 35. It was a month before her 38th birthday when she was executed.

  • @katiemaye98 I agree as well. While I do like Anne Boleyn, there where many things about her to dislike, her treatment of Mary for one.

  • @peacefulgal2007

i believe that Anne Boleyn was innocent. I love her too

  • Anne Was So Cruel To Poor Mary Tudor

  • Anne did get enciente quite a few times but sadly she only produced Elizabeth to full term. like Catherine before her. Also Henry did have a son Henry Fitzroy to Bessie Blount. Henry basically needed to remove Anne once he decided to marry again. Time was running out due to his age and his maniac obsession for a boy. So he had Cromwell accuse her of incest, witchcraft etc to clear the way to marry and produce a legitimate male heir.

  • Thanks so must for posting.

  • Its really funny though because we know now that the sex of a child depends on the sperm of the father..... Thus heny was at fault for not having a male until Edward.....

  • I wonder what would have happened, If they knew then as we know today. It is from the male which gender is determined. Would he had cut of little henry!!

  • i guess anne never really believed henryviii would really make her queen. i guess back then she wanted to buy time for her love with Percy.
