Driving through the center of Lunenburg, Massachusetts during morning of the "Ice Storm of December 13, 2008" After spending a sleepless night listening to trees cracking, snapping and dropping due to the heavy ice which accumulated on everything, I had to drive to my work location to inspect damage. The most frightening part was watching the flashes in the dark night sky from the electric wires and transformers which were popping all around us. As of today (Video post - December 16) Much of Lunenburg and surrounding towns, including much of southern NH and ME are still without power, heat, etc. Even the Lunenburg Wal-Mart has been closed!

my family just moved out of lunenburg a short while before this... when i heard about this i had to call all of my friends, and my dad, to make sure they were ok. They all say it was the worst Christmas ever. poor them =[ Most of them left lunenburg to go stay with family, or they stayed with friends who luckily had a generator.

Well to start with, Lunenburg is far from being a "city"; Leominster and Fitchburg are much more urban than Lunenburg, by far. Also, many roads were completely blocked off throughout Lunenburg, although this video doesn't show it. The center of town was also a "war-zone", and was impossible to traverse initially. I live near the center of Lunenburg and the back and main roads to my house from the center were blocked by trees at multiple points. Lastly, it took quite a bit more than 12 days
