AWARDED - BEST HUMAN INTEREST DOCUMENTARY - LOS ANGELES, NEW YORK INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
In a film that captures the incredible strength of the human spirit, Director Matthew White profiles the life of
Rishel "Rick" White, a veteran of the Second World War. White lived a rough and rugged childhood in the
coal mining hills of West Virginia before joining the Army to serve his country like his brothers.
During his training he met and later married a girl from Upstate New York, occasionally breaking the
rules to visit her before his deployment to Europe. He escaped death from shot and shell during one of the
greatest battles in history, was pushed to the brink of survival as a prisoner of war and escaped the chaos
of a collapsing Nazi Germany. An ocean away his wife waited, uncertain if she would ever see the father of
her unborn child again.
Over sixty years have passed but the memories are still vivid as Rishel, his wife Shirley and their two sons
share their inspiring personal story...
