Daniel Day Lewis. And in Gangs Of New York he was channeling DeNiro, while in There Will Be Blood he was doing more John Houston, like his director asked him to do. Lewis doesn't make a lot of movies, but when he does he shows much greater range than Pitt. I did say that Pitt's performane here impressed me so I'm not ragging on him completely. But I do think that back in the early 90's he was overhyped a lot while having not really proven himself worthy of the hype.

This guy opposite Pitt is a wonderful actor; playing a buttoned-down tightass corporate type whose got his hands dirty for years with hoods. Playing the line and not liking what he does. A very subtle, layered performance.

all actors are limited; and i partially agree with you. hes gotten better, but at the same time, he does play similar roles in a lot of movies....but a lot of actors do. a lot of a list actors do...look at michael day lewis, gangs of new york, there will be blood...phenomonal acting, but same role, yet completly different....ya know?
