The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk is an armed military observation and attack aircraft, designed for battlefield surveillance and light strike capabilities. It is of twin turboprop configuration, and carried two crewmembers with side by side seating. The Mohawk was intended to operate from short, unimproved runways in support of Army maneuver forces.

  • We did use these for drug interdiction missions. We could use the radar to find moving boats and vehicles and the IR system to find donkey trains coming across the boarder.

  • Worked on these in Korea. Brings back memories.

  • They've been thinking about buying a new COIN aircraft. This should be a contender, although personally I'm more partial to the original concept of the Bronco.

  • Worked on this bird from May 1995 to June 1996. Best year I was in the Army.
