Rejected (aborted) landings due to gusting crosswinds and turbulence - Scary (HD)

There is a hill you have to clear right before the runway, trees on the left and hangars on the right. With the wind gusting from the left the air is swirling so bad around these obstacles that it activates the stall horn even though I am approaching at 70 knots.

Huge sudden vertical drops and unexpected gusts from the left made this landing impossible. Twice. The second attempt was even worse than the first. Flew back all the way to the home airport about an hour and a half away to get it down.

Fortunately I filled up before leaving so we had enough endurance

I just wanna say that my faith in humanity has been widdled at yet again....the fact that no one sensed the obvious sarcasm in my comment on your "bad landings" video is very depressing

Amanda was a trooper, you could tell she was nervous but she did fine. Excellent call on the go around as sometimes we just get ourselves so set on landing that we just land without thinking of the consequence. You might have been fine but what if you werent ?

It's great camerawork, very steady and clear. If I had one suggestion on your flying

It would be try and nail your approach speed, if it's gusty you can add like 7kts and you'll have more control. In the videos you were right on slope 100% just too quick and ended up floating until the wind took you off centreline.
