The New York Toy Fair is an annual event, held in February, where designers and manufacturers showcase their new toys. We try and go every year.
In 2008, we found a pad of paper that is also a desktop sculpture, some novelty scissors that look like a rabbit, an amazing cube that opens up to show either a globe or a map of the night sky, a 3-D puzzle called Voxal from Brazil (which we ended up stocking in the Grand Illusions Toy Shop), a clever sliding block puzzle, which combines translucent pieces with a coloured background, to give interesting colour effects, and finally a new spinning top which is also a skill toy.
Some of these may end up being popular, and you may find them in toy shops near you. Other toys appear at the Toy Fairs, and if the response is low, they are never seen again!
