Its not interpreting the song as "physically eating people's brains", the video is a metaphor for what is going on inside of him as he goes through the relationship...She is life, and in comparison, he is like a zombie (death). And he is afraid that his negativity will change her. I think its brilliant.

How could you interpret this song as being about physically eating people's brains like some emotionless, thoughtless zombie? This song has much emotional depth which seems to have gone right over the head of the director who doesn't understand the power of metaphor. Saying that this is still a better video than the offical one so fair enough for that.
