ENST 390: Video Abstract

Evaluation of Current Projects
Abstract: We created our video in order to provide insight into where the Colgate Office of Sustainability stands with its progress towards achieving its sustainability goals, specifically where student understanding and participation are concerned. As we have been tasked with assessing Colgate's current sustainability projects, we wanted student input and feedback on these initiatives in order to demonstrate areas of improvement in regard to awareness, as Colgate's goal year for carbon neutrality, 2019, is quickly approaching. We will begin our video by stating a few major events in Colgate's pursuit of sustainability. We will then show student responses to the following questions: "What is sustainability?", "How familiar are you with Colgate's sustainability projects?", "How familiar are you with Colgate's sustainability goals?", "How do you participate in sustainability on campus?", and "How important is sustainability?". After segments of students answering the questions, we give our own answers to the questions. We then have a segment of John Pumilio, Director of Sustainability, discussing the importance of sustainability. We end the video by asking the audience what they will do to aid in sustainability and direct viewers to the Colgate sustainability website. We intend for our video to demonstrate current student awareness, as well as serve as an educational tool and call to action. The intended audience for this video is anyone and everyone who is interested in sustainability at Colgate, in higher education, or in general.
