vary ur time.. make ur move slow hold it as long as you can.. they wont run on u and if u take it slow you got more time to see if hes going to go or not.. make ur baserunner think ur going to first. there he will step back and if he has the sign to go ur catcher should get him.

the second point be made was important. The runner will start to know that you might make a pickoff move if you take too long
