Rock Me To Sleep - A Music Video for Peace

The poem from which the lyrics are drawn was written by my great great aunt, who wrote under the name Florence Percy. The idea for this video was born when my mom showed me an old family letter in which one of my relatives describes how "Rock Me To Sleep, Mother" was so well known that her church's pastor had referred to it during his sermon. He spoke about how the poem had been put to music and how Civil War soldiers used to huddle around campfires and sing it, longing for home.

@Mallenaudrix Thanks for taking time to comment. This is Sianna, the artist responding to you.
I would be extremely interested to know where you might have heard this melody before, as I crafted every note of it myself and, outside of this video posting, it is not yet available to the public. I'd also love to know where I can hear a recording of the original composition, as I've had no luck in finding one.

Okay, if you actually pay attention to the lyrics, its about a women yearning for her mother who is dead. Although it was from the Civil War era it was not for soldiers specifically. And this upbeat sounding rendition of the song is all that you hear anywhere. The original melody that was intended sounds much better.
the fact that you dedicated it to the soldiers today is nice, but given the true message of the song, could be perceived as self-indulgent.

The lead soldier in the video is a 25 yr old veteran of the current Iraq War and we used as many veterans or people affected by the war as possible. I thank each and every one of them for volunteering their time to help make this video, of which I'm very proud. Extra huge thanks to Federico, my talented husband, for turning our garage into a green screen and spending hours teaching himself Shake to do the morphing.
If an endorsement of peace is self-indulgent,...here's to self-indulgence!

Anything that helps guarantee a peaceful future for my daughters and generations to come is fine by me.
Peace,
