Gonzo was truly one of the Muppet greats. His stock-in-trade was being a wierdo, and he could be riotously funny in that role. However, he also had the capacity for great sensitivity and poignancy (his singing of "I'm Going to go Back There Someday" being only one example). I can;t think of a single human performer with his kind of versatility.
