  • this is awesome, it seems cut a bit short though. is there a second part?

  • @ddalki012 We will be posting an uncut version of this in the near future. Might not be much different, we'll see.

  • Used to do Tae Kwon Do, great for fitness and flexibility. However ineffective for self- defence due to training methods. Just curious, why do people choose to practice TKD instead of other martial arts? if anyone want's to answer please do, I like to debate.

  • @TheG1NGAN1NJA Sounds like you already decided the debate.

  • I really enjoyed listening to this interview.

Phillip Rhee talks about martial arts in a way that I respect and which I think best represents the discipline.

I personally practise Shotokan karate and all the best people I've met within that style speak and act exactly like Rhee. I also have some friends who practise Tae Kwon Do and it's clear to me they love to train and live the life of a martial artist.

If we begin and end everything in life with respect, we won't go far wrong!

  • I have practiced TKD for just under 3 years...I'v learned that it teaches you not how to fight, but also how to avoid a fight. I agree with Rhee when he says that martial artists are losing respect for the sport and forgetting where it came from. I recommend Tkd to anyone who wants to learn how to defend themselves!!

  • I practised Taekwondo for 2 and a half year and I have used it in self defense to protect both myself and my friend. Its far from ineffective. You learn to punch, to kick, to throw and lock. You learn to block punches and kicks and to get out of many diffrent grabs and chokes. At the same time you improve your steanght, speed, flexibility and stamina. All good things when it comes to defending yourself.

  • @TheG1NGAN1NJA why is it ineffective due to training methods?

  • Master Jun Chong his my Grnad Master i learn from one of his best students...i also met Phillip Rhees awesome school...Ucelo Martial Arts!!!!

  • I saw him yesterday.

  • I've done tkd for years and transitioned into kickboxing and now jiu jitsu a year ago. We don't see tkd implemented much in mma because there's a lot of flashy kicks (wheel kicks or spinning back kicks) which could open you up for take downs. But tkd taught me to have quick reflexes, to be explosive(hip escapes), and flexibility. Every martial arts contributes to different combat situations you may be in or adds on an advantage when learning a new martial art. My tkd days weren't a waste of time

  • almost every style can be effective in self defence, it depends on the instructor and more important on yourself (determination, application), I say that not because I do tkd, i've done yoseikan budo, jujitsu and kickboxing. It happened to fight against tkd athletes some years ago. Sometimes i won sometimes i lost that's life.

By the way Phillip Rhee is really great

  • @tapoutcampion111 That's true, is very effective, but the movements are very rigid, like karate e.e

  • @TheG1NGAN1NJA I'd rather train than debate.

  • @TheG1NGAN1NJA it dont matter about the martial art u do its all the same thing it all depends of your training and your master. it is effective if u know how to use the texhniques/
