Plastic pollution is a problem - but the solution starts with recycling everything and anything we can, including plastic bags. We scoped out the largest plastic bag recycling facility in the world to see how it's done. Check out our tour of the Hilex Poly plant in North Vernon, Indiana. And recycle those bags!

I have recently started putting up videos here and there on how I re-use things around my apartment. Things such as milk and water jugs are now being used as tea jugs around here. I wash them out, then mix the tea materials, putting them in the fridge, or refilling them with water for myself and others that live here. Various other things are reused here to. Mostly poetry and art occupies my page also. You should cerainly check it out!
Peace,
Caleb

No matter how much gets recycled, as long as there is crude oil there will be new plastic created. We need a better solution, such as making plastics burnable with little to no dioxins and turning it into electricity. (Cool poster in the background. :)

Reducing and reusing is a great idea - you're talking to a fellow that stuffs aluminum foil wrappers into aluminum cans to make sure they get recycled here. The issue is many reusable bags don't get reused, are not always recyclable(ie cotton/linen), and people horde them and throw away the shabby ones because they don't want to be seen with a linty, crinkled bag. If we started getting 100% recycling efficiency, we wouldn't need to use near the oil or energy. To each their own I suppose.

I made a conscious decision a long time ago to cut down on plastic.
I have a backpack I bought 17 years ago, 3 very sturdy large reusables I've had for at least 5 years and about a dozen plain plastic bags I've had for a couple years that are still in good condition.
If you avoid the really thin plastic bags that too many corner stores give out, it's not at all difficult to find ones that'll last for years.
I've probably prevented 5000 plastic bags from needing to be recycled at all.

We do. Polyester and nylon make up a good deal of our clothing. Polyester is made from the same material as plastic soda bottles. Hats, shirts, pants, boots, shoes, car seats, carpet, pillows, blankets all can, and are, made from plastic.
Some research shows making these items from recycled plastic when possible saves energy over traditional grown fabrics like cottons, linen etc.
