Stephen Sayadian (together with an uncredited Mark Esposito) directed this 80's cult classic starring B-movie "scream queen" Michelle Bauer. Café Flesh is considered by many to be a masterpiece of the Adult Film genre. The film became a success at midnight showings. An R-rated cut of the film was shown in mainstream theaters. This video is taken from a promotional VHS that showed various scenes from the R-rated cut.

I watched this film on Friday, and I must say this movie is a masterpiece. It's one of the most ingenious films I have ever watched. I left a comment before saying "What the fuck did I just watch?" before, but I take it back. Everything about this film was fantastic. Sure, it had pornographic scenes in it but they were artistically laid out. I find myself often hearing the quotes of the characters in my head. I'll say it again, this movie is a masterpiece and is completely underrated.

I worked as a projectionist (an obselete profession) at the Cinema Mayflower in Oklahoma City in the early 1980s. I enjoyed showing that film, mainly because the MC (Max Melodramatic?) taunted the audience, in the film, but effectively in the theater as well. Our regular clientele didn't care for it.

When I hear the new millennium classist term "the top 1%", I think of this film.

Why couldn't someone have been this creative while Sasha Grey was making porn? NOBODY ever used that girl's talents the way they deserved to be used.

Probably the best X-rated film ever made. It actually had a great storyline, surreal characters, creative script with great one-liners, many freaky netherworld faces, a Mitchell Froom flawless soundtrack & the cinematography dark & great. Though many scenes have "hard action", once you know why the "audience in the film" sits to watch -- it made for a real cool premise. All actors brought their performances to the edge of noir. It's entertaining. Had to remind myself this was an X-rated pic.
