Well of course they have the answers; the contestants are only allowed to meet with the contestant coordinators and the producer (and possibly associate producers) prior to the show, so it's certainly allowed as per S&P. As for the cards on the side, I think it's so Gene isn't weirdly looking around the side to try to remember the name of the celebrities should he have a lapse.
You'll notice that the contestants don't wear name tags -- almost unheard of on a G-T show. And since the podiums don't have a place for the contestants names -- that's where they went.
Did you know that the same was true of the stars? Their names were on the upstage side of their name podiums.
And finally, Breslow must have had the Audience Match information -- because he says "Charles has a win coming up" right before the $250 answer is revealed. Interesting.
What an amazing talent, to be able to follow such an insane show.

Marc was a master at directing game shows - it's just too bad that Bob Barker got him fired from "The Price Is Right" in 1986!

Do you notice at 5:16, you can see the names of the contestants on cards on the side of the scoreboards? I didn't know. :)
