  • @DedeAsPsichas If you enjoy the sound of your amp being scooped for a dark tone and want to be heard with drums you will have to pair it with another amp with the mids cranked up or else you won't be heard. That way you can have your scooped tone and be heard at the same time. One amp does the the low end rumble while the other is your voice.

  • @SIGN666 Having the mids way up is what nu-metal guitar sound is known for. Although, there are tons of other non-related subgenres that use that kind of tone (think Haemophagia, Cannibal Corpse (late)) And yes it helps the guitarist to be heard better. Scooping mids, while giving a more old-school Death Metal tone (Death "Human", Cannibal Corpse "Tomb of the Mutilated", Deicide "Once upon a cross") and sounding more evil and crushing, will give you problems in a live situation.

  • I'm a metal dude. I play death metal and thrash metal. One thing I know is live you need mids to stand out.

  • @chernobyl1994 I was talking about the genre sound. Scooping the mids is often used in Death Metal. Modern metal (nu-metal crap) bands use a lot of mids.

  • @DedeAsPsichas gotta disagree there. it depends on the amp. i run an old carvin x100b and i have to lower the mids to give it a usable tone.

  • Do you atleast know what youre talking about?? Scooping Mids is mostly beeing used in Death-Metal and its genres. Modern metal bands use a lot of mids to get the crunch.

  • I am still working on recording rhythm... it's a pain in the ass!

  • I run my gain @ 8, bass & treb @ 10, mid @ 0, and level @ 5 - route the send jack to the reverb tank return set @ 2 - for a nice lead boost with the footswitch.
