I am a certified a.s.e. electrical/ electronics tech for gasoline engines. I am impressed with the ingenuity of this pump. Yes, this will work. The pump pulls vacuum causing the air (water particles) to boil and leave the system.

@HVACJunkie Thats like saying you don't know how tall someone is because they measure themselves in inches not in meters. If the math is too hard there are charts available...
-
@lsrx101 Exactly right. If you can get over 29.5 inches (gauge, not absolute) you've pulled the boiling point of water down under 60F. Hold it there for an hour to be sure, but its enough to be sure the water is gone. 500 microns would make the evacuation pretty much instant, but isn't necessary for us shade tree types.

Hey, did you put in an inline oiler or do you add an ounce or two of oil for every hour of operation? You should...
Anyway, I plan on converting the AC pump on my car to be an air compressor so that I can have onboard air for my train horns (and for pneumatic tools)

Most American cars will work just fine even without any purge. The dryer will take care of it!

sweet setup! FYI - I have a regular A/C vacuum pump and it says to put some ATF in it before & after each use, might be good for yours as well.

GREAT SET UP !!!!!!

I think a few of the commenters on here, whould make great vacuum suction units themselves ; )

@HVACJunkie Maybe you're an idiot! You can't even spell Vacuum! For HVAC, inches of vacuum is the common reading. Usually microns are used for ultra high vac applications like in electronics.Awood: good for you!

@parataxik I also change pulleys on riding mowers to make 'em go fast. Blow stuff up and what not.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
So, how does this idot know how well it really works? Its doing a really good job compared to what? Didn't compared it to microns. Guage vaccum and microns are not the same. Microns is the standard unit of measurement.

HEY I am a ASE Certifited Master Tech. in Automotive and Medium/Heavy Duty Truck. All I know is that I hooked this contraption up and it pulled a vacuum, just like the big machine does at the shop I work in. I AM NOT AN IDIOT!!!!! I have been a professioal tech for over 24 years. I figured some people might get a kick out of this thing. Still, it was better than putting the refrigerant in without vaccing it down. It's been 2 months now and it is working fine.
