Wayne Simon is an elite guard: there is no doubt about it, so why doesn't he get more love? He's clearly an elite guard, in a city known for producing great guards (Chicago), and he stars for a school with more tradition of producing great guards than any other school in the world. Wayne's coach at St. Joseph, Gene Pingatore (of "Hoop Dreams" fame) has produced so many big time guards in his years of coaching that it would make your head spin- from Isiah Thomas to Demitri McCamey- and he has been telling anyone who will listen that Mr. Simon is next in line. Simon may not have been ranked in the top 10 growing up, and may not have made internet headlines by playing in big time AAU tournaments with a big time AAU squad, but if were basing it on pure talent, ability, and productivity, there isn't a guard in Chicago that has been proving himself night in and night out this season more than Wayne Simon. It seems he has taken his game to another gear this year, playing brilliantly in leading St. Joes to a top 10 ranking by systematically taking down higher ranked teams one by one with a smile plastered on his face the whole time. Furthermore, he raises his level of play when the stakes get higher; he had one of the best games of his career last weekend in front of a house packed with a whos-who of Chicago basketball personalities, against #1 ranked Whitney Young- led by a pair of guards that are headed to the Big Ten and Pac 10, respectively (highlights of that game and more in this video). So why doesn't Wayne Simon get the recognition he deserves? Who knows? I sure don't. I do know one thing though: when he finally does commit to a division one school and sign on that dotted line, I sure would not like to be a coach in that school's conference, because Wayne will be terrorizing any NCAA guard that crosses his path for the next four years- I can promise you that...for more info email DanielPoneman@gmail.com.

I understand the frustration. I also have an unsigned senior. He was a starter for Leuzinger high that was number 5 in the state of california. I think it is all politics many times. Good players get passed up and players who are just as good or not as good get the division 1 scholarships. Wayne is very good!

Bonifide Baller, for real!!! Keep that chip on your shoulder Soldier. Once you get your chance to demonstrate your skills on the big stage, there will be a lot of Coaches kicking themselves on how they let you slip away.
