  • I never liked the constant debate of which plane is better, maybe it's a patriotic thing...

In my eyes, both planes are absolutely wonderful, both planes fought together.

One was an escort fighter, the other was an interceptor. Both were built by the allies.

Getting tired of all the America vs Britain arguements, who cares, we're on the same side.

  • What a spectacular Rendition.

  • That would look awesome in a ww2 movie a spit and a p51 together, alternative history film!

  • I think next they should have a P-47 and a Typhoon do a show together. What a couple of brutes doing a ballet! LOL

  • I love that howl of the P-51's supercharger. I would have loved to see this live. What a show!

  • One is the best example of the best escort fighter the other is the best example of the best intercept fighter. Brothers in arms for sure.

  • If you're a airplane fan, especially if you're a fan of piston-driven WWII planes, it's hard not to "personify" these aircraft - I certainly do. Like you, I see this video and think of the two of them as "friends". Yup, a lot of people would think this is nuts, but at the least, they'd have to admit that the Mustang and Spitfire are machines that helped save the world from Hitler, and for that, they're more than mere "machines".

    Beautiful birds, both of them!

  • The RR supercharged Merlin that powers these two amazing fighters might be the greatest noise on earth. These two might also be the two most beautiful flying machines ever built. quite a beautiful and deadly pair. Oh and fantastic video.

  • someone has not done all their homework the mustang was fastest straight and level but most fighting was not done flying straight and level

  • This meant that the Mustang did all the escort work for the bombers and in the latter years of the war Spits were more involved in short-range fighting with what was left of the Luftwaffe. The P-51 was a ferociously robust and powerful escort fighter and was essentially what enabled the logistical demise of Nazi Germany.

In my own hopelessly romantic way I often look on these two fighters as brothers in arms - certainly, I tend to personify the both of them, as steeped in history as they are.
