We are saying the same thing about octave correctness, only in different words. I have had to angle the bridge on one of my instruments, but it did not correct the problem properly, so I had a stepped bridge made for it. End of problem.
Well-spotted, the angle of the bridge, but couldn't it be that this angle gives the correct intonation? I habve mandolins (and, in fact, a domra) where the bridge makes a slight angle to get 'octave correctness' .
