How to run a game server using screen and SSH in Linux

A real quick video on how to have a Game server run with no one logged in.

The servers I used are Borg Gaming at 72.205.251.194

Really I made this video to hammer out more quality issues with cam studio.

The script text is below:

echo "Starting Server ..."
sleep 1
screen -A -m -d -S css-server ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +map de_dust +maxplayers 16 -autoupdate

The information was provided by srcds.com That's why I didn't know the command in the server.sh file.

I was wondering why I had to keep putty running on my windows machine to keep the server up. Thank you so much =D

@Jadon159 When you close putty it logs out of the server. Whatever is running will close so you have to use screen or something similar to have it run in the background while no user is logged in.

does it run when you shut down you computer ?

The server has to be running but the computer you use to manage it can shut down

If you want to detatch a running screen just type ctrl+a and then d, then you return to the shell
