@jazzmonster123 Gerry Mulligan and thi same band did the Soundtrack & were in the movie "I Want To Live". Very intense movie & a excellent soundtrack!

@BuckshotLaFunke still near enuff, the bridge going to the flat six as new key.

That's Bernie's Tune alright sans the melody. They end it like Gerry always did with the Major Picardy 3rd on the last note.

Genius!

Seen this group back in 1959 at a J.A.T.P. concert in Berlin.I wish there was a CD of it.

A great piece from the album "What is there to say" is Blueport.

OK, now I understand. I heard Rollins in Amsterdam a few years ago, but he had Bob Cranshaw on bass. Didn't know about Leon Grimes, though! Thanks.

yusuke1200mk4 posted (part of) this same vid as "Bernie's Tune". I saw Henry Grimes here in Amsterdam with Sonny Rollins in 1963. One of my all time favorite bass players! He had an identical twin brother who played tenor sax, Leon Grimes!
God how I miss the days when people were allowed to smoke on television!
