Derren Brown does an old seance trick. From "Trick of the Mind," S03E06.
You can be fooled no matter how smart you are, and just because you can't explain it, doesn't mean there isn't a natural explanation to it. Forturnatly for this particular trick, I (or rather, Derren) included the explanation at the end.

@bryankelly Please provide evidence for what you claim about "the smarter someone is the easier they are fooled." I've never heard that claim before, nor have I seen any evidence to think it's true.

@SubconsciousGatherer "simple minds"??? first off the point is, is that anyone can be fooled. In fact the rule in magic and mentalism is that the smarter someone is the easier they are fooled.
If you can't even get that right, how are we supposed to trust what you believe about god and miracles. Not every famous magician or even mentalist are skeptics when it comes to God.

@Frogbogbogbog i'm sorry but you should realize that no one "high up in psychology" can explain what he does (unless they are magicians.) Because hes a magician. They are tricks like any other magician does yet he manipulates information rather than objects, which makes him a "mentalist". But first and foremost hes a magician.

This just further proves how simple minds can be fooled into believing in gods and miracles...(there is ALWAYS a trick!)

Um what are you on about? Derren Brown never, ever claimed to be a medium or pscychic out of a controlled experiment that in fact, like all his programmes, are works by Derren trying to prove mediums and psychics are fake, or use unconscious cold reading. OF COURSE Derren can explain ALL of the works he does. People high up in psychology can too. So I have no idea what you're on about. Derren's not trying to be anyone he's not lol.

no need to call me clown! I was merely stating that this was not Seance, the other tv special he did. This is Messiah! God why is the internet so fricking hostile these days! You can't say anything without being insulted! I typed in Derren Brown's "Seance" because I had lost my recording, and when this came up I was confused, as many others would be. There's no need to insult people for pointing this out for Christ's sakes!
