This is the ULTIMATE Shapiro ad! Hearts ripped out?! Severed heads?! Is nothing off limits to you, Jim?!
He was a lawyer from Rochester, NY. His ads were widely seen throughout the eastern United States and Canada in the early to mid 90's. There is a good write-up on him at Wikipedia that explains a lot (found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Shapiro).

He was disbarred a few years ago. Despite claiming to be The Hammer, he apparently never saw the inside of a Courtroom.

I'd like to see him go up against Matlock. The combination of mania and near-comatose calm would cause a vortex.

@NYTrialman - He was NOT disbarred. He was suspended for a year from NY and from FLA but never disbarred.

It would be awesome if he was just like this in court, and when asked to present his case he just said, "Your honor...I'm Jim 'THE HAMMER' SHAPIRO!!!"
...and then the judge would be like, "That's good enough for me! Court finds in favor of the plaintiff."

i think this man should take up a career as a professional wrestling manager. he'd be up there with the Heenans and Cornettes of the world as far as generating heat is concerned.
