There is a place, a soldiers dream,
the arms of their true lover.
The safest place theyve ever been,
this place is like no other.

It is a place where flowers grow,
sweet rains softly falling?
It is A place my children go,
where I can hear them calling?

This paradise, a soldier´s dream,
my home, my love, my freedom.
But I´m Still not sure what victory means,
And I guess Ill do what must be done.

It´s a place where the cool breeze blows,
the bell bird call still ringing?
A pretty song my baby knows,
the one shes always singing..

It is the place our soldiers come,
when they need to hold their loved ones
A race the youngsters run
in love with one another..

A paradise, a soldiers dream,
my home, my love, my freedom.
But I´m Still not sure what victory means,
And I guess Ill do what must be done.

There is a road a road of smiles
and friendly hands to touch
We´d like to live Walk those miles
were not asking too much

  • Hi Lefty When you say:

"Which is still not to disparage Rick's versions of your work.

    I wrote the song I didn´t do a version

    Cheers!

    Rick

  • Having seen two versions of this song, I have to say that I far prefer this version. Your words and your voice match up so well. (Which is stil not to disparage Rick's versions of your work or his great contributions to your collaborative work.)

    Congratulations all around.

  • Ah yes, I recall this one. I actually intended on stopping over when I saw it on Rick's page but never go around to it. Sorry about that.

This is a wonderfully constructed song, both melodically and lyrically. Very touching. It actually inspired me to write out some lyrics for a song I've had for years and could never finish. I'm still waiting on a verse to come, but otherwise it might be up soon, so thanks for the inspiration. I actually borrowed quite a bit from this.

  • This is now resident on my facebook page as a post. For some reason the first message I typed in here did not seem to appear. Thanks Doug for all that you do for veterans.

  • I just posted on a different version that I was posting it to my facebook account at veteransptsdportal. But I found that I like this version better because of the graphics that you use. Thanks again Doug for all that you do.

  • I'm adding this to my favorites
