this time im trying something different. im playing buckethead's version of the nightrain solo, based on the 2001-2002 versions.

i have been playing for a little more than one year, so of course it wont be anywhere as good as some one who has been playing for over 30 years.

anyways, buckethead plays A natural minor in this solo, so i have watched some paul gilbert instructional videos and after playing around with the scale i found some patterns which i believe are close to what buckethead uses.
it took some time to bring the licks up to tempo, and it was pretty hard to keep it clean although there are some mistakes.

in this video i used:
gibson les paul studio (2004)
marshall MG series 50 DFX
turbo tube screamer TS9DX (ibanez)
compression/sustainer CS-3 (boss)

hope you enjoy, please rate and comment

  • Got to ask, how much legato do you use? Do you pick everything or do you do a mixture ?

  • @bajspackare93

both alternate picking and legato, i have never seen buckethead pick everything...

buckethead also uses hybrid picking (which im working on) when playing scales from lower to higher strings, he plucks the first note with the middle or ring finger and then hammers the rest....

    hope it helps!
