What you are saying about not learning to read music is not true. I just had 3 Simply Music students play in a local piano festival pieces by Bach, Debussy and Catherine Rollin, which of course they learned from music. How many traditional students take lessons for years and years and never get good at reading music? Lots of them.

This is an awesome method to learn by. After years of lessons, even in college, I must say I have learned more from this method. I have learned to PLAY which i couldn't do before without my books. And the styles of music are amazing. I can now transpose, Improvise, and best of all compose my own music. This is by far a "Breakthrough" in Music Education. Those that don't agree just simply can't wrap their heads around it and get away from their "traditional" thinking.

Not true! We do teach music reading! Just not before they can play their first few pieces. How many years did these children speak before they were taught to read words?
The difference in Simply Music is:
Quantity of music learned
Quality of music
Speed of learning
Ease of learning

This is not 'break through' in learning music literacy.
Kids are not learning to read music and after playing by ear for long time NEVER be able to read music. Check Soft Mozart.
