Kristen is a nine year old who arrives in the emergency after being involved in a bicycle accident. She was struck by a car, and was not wearing a helmet. The rescue unit that responded to the scene had to intubate her and perform CPR on the way in to the ER. She is in the trauma room, and has a blood pressure of 50/20. Her pupils are fixed and dilated. You are the triage nurse and her mother comes to the desk and asks to go into the trauma room to be with her child.

Currently there are no hospital polices surrounding the admittance of family into the trauma room. The decision is up to the nurse/physican.

What would you do?
