Should African Americans be given reparations for slavery?

These Dems are just taking advantage of race again and again. if they really want to cure our problems, we need to stop all this Race card and Slavery stuff, i bet most of these "african-americans" were NOT slaves, or not even African! and is that somthing to be proud of? they still HAVE SLAVERY there! we need to unite and befreind eachother, together we are strong and that is what the government is scared of!

Reparations are a joke. How can you hold anyone responsible for what happened during slavery? It was pre-1865 in the US. Nobody living today has ever owned a slave or been a slave. Not to mention that most Americans are descendants of people who came here sometime after the Civil War or later. Racism exists because people like Farrakhan, Sharpton and Jackson keep it alive in peoples' minds. Then they make a bad name for ALL black people.

And technically wouldn't this mean we all should get reparations since all human beings originated from people in Africa? Idk. I never owned a slave. Nobody in my family EVER did. They weren't even here until the 1940's. What is my crime? Why should I have to pay the price for a crime I did not commit?

ya i remember getting an email with a picture of a normal black guy in a busy 1st nation street the writing beside it said," if you called this man an African American he would be bloody pissed off being both British and from Jamaica."

no your grandpa was slapped in irons not you sure you want us today to honor your grandfather for what was done to him sure but you kids (meaning current generation) so you get nothing, however say e.i. you where denied a job or something due to your race not only will i support your reparations for that but beat that asshole till he gives in, but you where not enslaved and kidnapped from Africa thus you do not deserve reparations for that.

So their slavery has a price. Pay them and fortunatelly we will no longer hear about that "black card thing" anymore.

But then again it is money they are after. If they do no tlike the fact that their ancestors were taken by force from africa, then now they can return there if they want to. But they dont!

No, If the government gave reparations to African Americans (if we should even be called that) that would be a slap in the face to all those who struggled throughout enslavement and the harsh discrimination and racism from the 1870s+. No money can eliminate what happened. I think the best we can do is try our best to understand each other and stop TALKING about this socially made up up thing called RACE.

Reparations is a joke all the way around.
