60s BBC would have had strict rules, as did studios of the time. The Beatles nearly got some legendary engineer/producers sacked from Abbey Road, except that George Martin was able to influence the 'old farts' more. The Flower Generation were genuinely trying to convince the stuffy, staid world of freedom & love - at least question dated values as Arthur is trying to say here. Dylan, Lennon and Jagger interviews are surprisingly consistent in their answers to such style of interviews.

The BBC was unfortunately populated by stupid old upper middle class farts who hoped that this nasty pop music would go away. They did their best to erase it from the collective memory.I met plenty of the stupid old bastards when I worked there 20 years on from this....
