An augmented reality system that makes walls transparent could prevent road accidents.

  • Or........ and I realise this is a little outside the box, the drivers could slow down when coming to a blind corner, just a thought.

  • New ideas may look clumsy to start with but if you mass produced cameras embedded in bricks and large flat screens for installing in buildings like double glazing and both connected to the building's computer system it could be fairly cheap and routine to produce "invisible sections" anywhere, not just corners.

A real city would become part-virtual same as people are now part-vitual.

  • The only way to make this happen is to either tape cameras to every street corner or have every car fitted with linked camera's. A logistican nightmare in itslef not to mention the potential for a street-by-street real time big brother

  • So you've come up with a ridiculously expensive and impractical alternative to convex mirrors and all-way stop signs. Good job.

  • LOL once the system is out for cars, drivers will have to stop before the curb, set up camera behind the curb, go back, turn with caution, and take the camera back.

  • hahahaha... so basically, you would have to install a camera on the other side of every wall that you would be turning into before you got there.. yeah, that will work ;) ;P

  • wall bang :P

  • Actually, I bet someone drives right into the corner of a building because of this instead of avoiding an oncoming car.... just saying, same stupid people that require warnings about not using hair dryers in the shower...

  • @keepraining ha! you are really on the money with the convex mirror idea... I can simplify that! Just put a motion sensor connected to an orange light on either side of the blind corner (see the orange light? take care)... but yes, I think this will have a military app, as well, so the research is not wasted...

  • @beirney82 yes because stopping all research in everything sounds like a smart plan, oh wait you can't read this, because no one invented computers because people were starving at that time so we stopped all research.
