New York City firemen responds to a small fire in a bookstore cafe in lower Manhattan april 2000. Filmed in Hi-8 during my stay as an anthropology student in NYC.

Youtube user fdnyphotographer has told me that:

"The first firefighter on the video, Captain Terry Hatton of Rescue Co. 1 made the Supreme Sacrifice on Sept. 11...RIP Cap...We Will Never Forget!!"

Youtube user irishkidd7562 has told me that:

"the last firefighter in the video on the roof of the truck is my dad, Michael Carroll of Ladder 3...who also gave his life on 9/11 attacks."

I was at your dad's funeral at the time I was a Vol FF in WI I'm now full time. Just want you to know he's not forgotten. I carry his funeral card with me every shift in my helmet.

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields and,

    Until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

  • A true hero. Not saying he's the biggest or the only hero of the FDNY, but by the sounds of it, he's very heroic.
