2005 during my trip to Vietnam, the national team won a match against Malaysia. This is the start of the mayhem that evening after the entire country was riveted to their televisions.

I am Italian, my wife is vietnamese I use to living in Viet Nam for nearly 1 year and I can tell u that we should learn from the Vietnamese people what the pride for a contry is

vietnam is still not a rich country. but things are improving. the first time i went there was in '91, kids weren't selling lottery tickets on the streets then, the kids were in torn clothes begging alongside disfigured war veterans. there also weren't as many motorcycles or cars, but only bicycles and pedestrians. i don't think vietnam is liberated, but things have definitely improved. in '91 the gdp per capita there was $500, today it is $3,100. that's something to be proud of.
