2010 Kawasaki Z1000 Presentation (US Version)

Development of the new 2010 Z1000 started from scratch, with the specific goals of creating a distinctive visual impact and superior on-road performance. The end result is essentially a custom-made super streetfighter.




A unique blend of Japanese art and technology, the 2010 Z1000s styling takes a dramatic leap forward with the distinct look of an apex predator. Hunched-down and ready to pounce, its visual impact is much stronger than that of a naked sportbike, or a derivative copy of some Euro trend.




The Z1000 clearly surpasses the dynamic performance of its predecessors, thanks to a new quick-revving 1,043cc inline-four cylinder engine, and an all-new quick-steering aluminium chassis connected to an all-new horizontal rear suspension design. Though it offers true sportbike handling; the Z1000s comfortable, upright riding position mean it remains a practical transportation tool, even as the dramatic howl from its new cold-air intake raises hairs on the back of its riders neck.

@89powerup Dude, seriously? 1) 160mph isn't slow. 2) Who cares about going that fast anyway? You're never going to need to go that fast anywhere, not even on the track. Especially not on a naked. This is a 'STREET' bike. Low end torque and acceleration is all that matters. If you want to go stupid fast in a straight line for no reason at all, why are you looking at the z1000?

@89powerup Of course not, I just picked it as an example. Every bike that is supposed to be very fast usually has wind protection. They are usually called Superbikes (ZX-Rs, GXRs, YFZ-R, CBRs etc.)

@89powerup It's a completely different market. It "only" does 160mph for two reasons.

1) No wind protection (get on a Hayabusa and lift your body up at 160mph and see your bike riding away without you)

2) They transmission is set up for faster acceleration hence the lower end speed

The Z1000 is a streetfighter not a streetracer. Top speed is not a priority.

What I dont understand about this new z is,why the top speed is only 160mph?

The bike has 1043cc in it..134hp..

Its a nice bike but,slow..A good tuned 500 can keep up with this..Might as well get a zx6 or any other 600..Much faster.

I´m so much into superbikes, i have never even slightly considered driving a naked.

But seriously, the new Z1000 gives me wet dreams every night.
