wow nice catch....i love crossings like this that are placed on busy highways like this........theyre intersting.........

I always go past that crossing when I go to Penn State. But i've never seen it activate, 5*****'s!
-
In the 21 years I have been alive and lived in this town I have never seen a train here and I am a huge railfan the line is hardly used at all anymore that I know of.. Also for the past five years I have been a volunteer fire fighter in lewistown and have never responed to call at this location. Great post also

what idiots at beginning!
-
Gee, an open level crossing just fitted with flashing red lights!?
This kind of level crossing in Finland would be equipped with gates to prevent motorists going to the level crossing when it's alarming!

I have seen a conductor get off the train here with flags and make sure people are stopped. I have also seen placarded trucks/school buses slam on the brakes at this crossing thinking they're required to, but there's this tiny little sign on the RXR indicator on the highway that says "exempt." Easy to miss at 60 per.
There have been many accidents at this crossing, including many people rear-ending stopped placarded vehicles when there's no train approaching for literally days. Tricky.

I barely survived a near miss with this train last spring. I grew up in the area and didn't know there was a train. Neither does anyone else I have spoken with. There was construction going on both sides covering the signs. The train came out of the trees on the L-you can't see it coming. Eyes are on the road, not looking up-those bars are high up people. There are small warnings before seen on top of the red car. Private trains crossing a very busy 4 lane divided SR322 Hwy? This isn't funny.

Lol, I love the one girl that gets out and stretches then is like "Oh, the train wasn't that long..."
Is that line of rails active? I have driven by many times and I've never any trains. Seeing the exempt sign, I figured it must be inactive.

@SantaFe19484 yes it is still active the exempt sign does not nessasry mean a railline is inactive it just means that scholl buses and fuel tankers don't have to stop at the crossing . (unless there is a train of course.)

Wow they need to either put this to a overpass or put gates at this crossing.

@jakubowski2008 i've always wondered why they didn't build an overpass in. the highway wasbuilt in the late 60's. the rail line in the video originally ran between lewiston & Selinsgrove pa but the middle part of the line was ripped out in 1957 so by the time the hiway was built this was a dead end track serving one custormer about twice a week. that why i think they setteled with a crossing. as for gates they'd proboly be putting new ones in every week cause some idiot would drive thru them.
