  • @Henok30 . . . and nowhere in the Bible does it say for a pastor (not priest) NOT to. So anyway, why don't you go back and watch the video again and actually listen to JP's reasoning. Whether you agree or not, there's no need to make wild accusations and be insulting.

Btw, what is an idot? Is that a new Apple product? "INTRODUCING THE iDot!"

  • @droptozro Someone who worried about brushing their teeth " In Faith" or not would give me cause for concern

(and probably cause to avoid them entirely)

  • Whatever's not from faith is sin?? Really?? Then I guess people who claim divine revelations are the most sin-filled pieces of shit on earth.

  • @sirdanmcman

No, the context of "everything" is food. It's really ridiculous to apply that to everything(literally every action)---so I could claim if you didn't brush your teeth tonight in faith you were sinning---really? Don't get me wrong it's not a bad thing to always walk by faith and do everything by faith--but this could be taken to it's extreme and it's nowhere near the truth of the context of the verse.

    Read it over again please.

  • @droptozro he said everything that's not done in faith is sin...and that is true.

  • Romans 14:23---is about food and Jews who were under the law eating/not eating unclean foods from being under the law in the past, "everything" is not sin... that's about as Gnostic an ideal as you can get if you take that out of it's context.

    Good answer otherwise tho... just don't proof-text, that's a really dangerous proof-text.

  • @Henok30 ??? And what is your definition of a Christian? Someone who believes in only two Christians getting married? You may want to be careful about how you make those judgment calls. Marriage is not an exclusively Christian idea. It is an institution that has been around for millenia before Christ.

  • @hubbs86 Thanks for the kind words.

  • (bible.org/question/it-okay-pastor-marry-two-unbelievers)

I think this answer from bible.org is pretty decent ...check it out and God bless you all...no need to argue over this stuff...

  • @Henok30 Are you serious? You got to be joking right! John doesnt need no more money he writes and sells books. This answer was biblical.

  • @netmahoubin that's a rather stupid idea. how is this picking and choosing the teachings of Christ? seriously? you're sunk in religion..

  • John Piper is an idot and certainly not a Christian. A Christian wouldn't say a Pastor should marry two non believers. John Piper is a lover of money and is just thinking about his pocket like many so called Ministers today. No where in the Bible does it say for a Priest of Pastor to marry 2 unbelievers.

  • @netmahoubin

I agree. It reminds me of churches that baptize infants even though the parents are clearly not believers.

  • @quemacha He saying that the bible says it good for two non-believers to marry. On that grounds he finds it ok. (believer and a non-believer is a different story) Same-sex marriage is not a marriage by the bible and its not ok in the bible for same sex to be "together" in that way.

    I hope this helps.

  • Then what happens if a pastor lives in a society that sanctions polygamy or same-sex marriage?

  • @netmahoubin This person's comment is giving into fear. IF the people reject the counseling, that would be a sign for dismissing them. John is correct in this matter. In the end God is the one performing the marriage. The man and woman in the marriage stand before God first then the pastor. Remember Christ's 2 greatest commandments. Love God first, Love your neighbor as yourself second

  • I disagree with this. It is compromise at best. The whole role of a pastor (or any disciple of Jesus for that matter) is to help people lay the foundation of Jesus Christ as the bedrock for this life and the next. In fact, I Corinthians 3:11 affirms this. By marrying non-believers, you're lulling them into the lie that one can pick and choose the teachings of Christ for personal benefit. By marrying them, you're damning their marriage to a wandering existence without a beacon to guide them.

  • @Phillip1220

I think John is taking a pragmatic approach to the issue of marriage. If no one marries unbelievers....who would marry them? The Justice of the Peace I suppose....

But then aside from this, I don't think it says anywhere that you can't marry unbelievers in the Bible...but the trouble is that in the New Testament, unbelievers had no cultural insentive to get married in a christian church. It was a different time, different society.

  • Well... what about gay marrige?

I thought marrige belonged to Christians, not 'unbelievers' regardless if it is a culturally acceptable pattern. I want to understand his perspective, im not judging him, I still have no solid belief on the matter. I would appreciate a response made in love. thanks.
