  • I am German, and I know that we still aren't doing enough. We will be in deep shit soon. Not as deep as the shit the US will be in, but bad enough.

  • I like the idea of finding ways to preserve science and culture through a focused effort.

Also, his lead statement about communities working together sees like the only way, but a difficult stretch for our fragmented car culture.

  • this is going to far worse than anyone comprehends, wherever you are

  • @elfboi523 Germany has one of the best economies in the world. I just hope that they don't decommission the nuclear plants.

  • My hope is that even though the coming post-oil era will come at a devastating cost to our globalized world, that we'll still be able to reorganize our societies, transportation, agriculture etc. to press on and at least survive, if not thrive. My hope is that this is not an end for the human race, but a new beginning. We may never get off this rock to explore other worlds. The least we can do is try to live the best way we can on the only planet we've ever called home.

  • @theoldclamdigger I think hippies and people who have been advocating a culture based on community, organic farming and being all around communal will be able to survive. Ego centric people that value money and material goods more than other humans will be in a world of hurt.

  • @elfboi523 Yah, I live in America and people here are way to fucking stupid and lazy to do something in time. I have alot more faith that Europe will be able to convert their society to something more sustainable. Good luck. =)

  • One way I prepared for peak oil was converting my home to a net-zero solar powered home that uses no oil or gas..I made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil"....

  • its not just oil. it is all the life including plant that dies every day. around 200 species go extinct a day.

  • I believe the energy apocalypse predicted in this video greatly underestimates the ingenuity of humankind to prevail. Relatively clean versions of nuclear fusion, fission combined with greater efficiency in geothermal, wind and solar energy sources can get us off our oil dependence.

  • The sharp increase in oil prices makes previously unviable offshore reserves, now viable. Though this is arguably undesirable given the obvious dire effects of such energy sources it does buy some more time to make the transition.
