Ever gotten angry and punched a hole in your interior drywall? No worries! I will show you how to repair it like nothing happened even before your landlord ever has time to threaten your security deposit!

In this video I will show you how with a few cheap and simple tools you can make even large holes fade away. At the bare minimum you will need: a metal patch, 20 minute fast set and a texture can (to match your texture should it apply). As far as tools you will also need: a broad knife, putty knife, a mud pan, sandpaper and your touch-up paint. This video specifically shows how to match a "knock down" texture, however, I also give lots of information about the three other most common types of textures (knock down, orange peel, skip trowel and smooth wall) so that you can match most textures all on your own. Examples of each texture will be provided in the following links

Examples of the most common textures
Orange Peel: http://www.house-painting-info.com/image-files/heavy-orange-peel-texture-400x...
Knock Down: http://www.house-painting-info.com/image-files/knockdown-texture-400x265.jpg
Skip Trowel: http://www.workcompany.org/Skip-Trowl.jpg
Smooth Wall: I'm not going to provide a link to this because if your wall is smooth... you have smooth wall.
(the above links are not of my work and are only provided to show examples of each texture. Credit for the above images goes to house-painting-info.com and workcompany.org)

  • What sheen do you recommend for the stucco on a house?

  • @atamike37 My favorite finish to use on exterior stucco are the low sheen acrylics like Kelly Moore's 1245. If your Stucco has a lot of hair line cracks I would first apply an elastomeric to bridge those and then top that with something comparable to a 1245. This will give you a really nice job. If you have the hairline cracks you can finish with the elastomeric, but I prefer not to. For more info about how to paint your exterior check out my exterior house painting series.
