^^Maggie's Murder...da da daaaaa!

"What did I do wrong?"
"How could this happen to me?"

Those are some of the phrases some Days End horses would be saying right now... that is... If they were still alive.

In this video you will see just 2 of the euthanasias that have taken place at Days End Farm Horse Rescue. Maggie and Mountain & Gatsby. There are more, but putting them all into one video would be an extremely long video.

I was debating whether or not to post this video. I finally decided to post it because people need to be aware the rescue they may be supporting is pro-slaughter (support the slaughter industry) and is a kill-rescue. If you don't believe me, you can ask around or look it up to see they are pro-slaughter. And to see if they're a kill rescue? Just look at the 8 horses they euthanized in August, and the 3 horses they euthanized this year. How many rescues do you know that have euthanized roughly 11 horses in a few months?

Mountain and Gatsby were recently euthanized because they were "too old" and virtually "unadoptable". Even though these two horses had people interested in them, Days End would not let them go because it was out of state and they thought it would be "too stressful" for them to be in a trailer for too long. I'm sure they would rather be in a horse trailer for 3 days, and LIVE out the rest of their days in green pastures, than to DIE. (Questions are answered below in the FAQ)

You probably heard of Maggie. She was returned because her owner had back problems. Her owner fell off of Maggie and hurt her back. It wasn't Maggie's fault. Maggie was returned to Days End, where she was later labeled as "Dangerous" and euthanized after 3 weeks at being at Days End. Days End said Maggie would get training in the fall then would be put back up for adoption. Too bad that never happened.

RIP Marbles, YaYa, Java... all the horses that died!

__Frequently Asked Questions and Comments__

C: Mountain and Gatsby had no interest in them!
A: Actually they did. One rescue was the SECOND LONGEST RUNNING RESCUE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. They were located in Iowa and were very eager to take in those horses. Days End did not respond to them... then after MONTHS of trying to get a hold of Days End, DEFHR denied them the horses. There was also a woman in Montana that really wanted Mountain and Gatsby.

Q: Did those horses really die?
A: YES. I wouldn't make a video if they weren't DEAD!

Q: How do YOU know this is true?
A: I KNOW Maggie's adopters, and I talked with many, MANY rescue and organizations that know information about Days End. I even talked with the DEFHR staff and I volunteered at Days End for 8 years.

Q: Why are you being so mean to this rescue?
A: The truth hurts. I'm not being mean I'm being honest. They are a pro-slaughter, kill rescue and THIS is what they're doing. It is mean what they're doing- isn't it?

C: Mountain and Gatsby were UNHEALTHY!
A: No they were not! Inside sources say otherwise......

C: DEFHR had to do it. They have so many horses, it was necessary.
A: Rescues are OBLIGATED to take care of each and every horse that goes into their care. Throwing Mountain and Gatsby away (euthanizing them), was NOT what rescues should do. Days End has the SPACE and FUNDS and VOLUNTEERS to care for 2 healthy, elderly horses. Days End denied 2 qualified homes for Mountain and Gatsby. In doing so, they also denied Mountain and Gatsby the chance to live.

Q: Is Days End really pro-slaughter?
A: Unfortunately. You can look it up.

If you have a problem with this movie- go watch another. I'm tired of ignorant comments. Have questions? Private message me. This is what is happening. If you don't like it, talk to Days End. I already spent days trying to find Mountain and Gatsby a home. Days End put them down despite the homes that awaited them.

  • I don't agree. While you do make good points, you are still thinking about the most optimistic, happy go lucky half-options. by this I mean that you aren't thinking through the whole process. DEFHR probably didn't get $ from mountain/gatsby etc, but they also never got money from the horse that I adopted. She had a bucking problem, and nobody there rode her. She was a pasture ornament. How could they get money from her? But she was still there at the rescue for 3 years. (2004-2007)

  • @thacarter1023 What? DE has nothing to do with auctions- they only deal with animal control. I don't see the relevance. As for your horse, my horse was also at DE for like...8 years? or close to that. She was adopted/returned 4 times. DE reassured me that my horse wouldn't have been put down because of her "personality" but they lied before. I can't believe anything they say. Like I said after these ~11 horses were put down, I don't think they put down any more horses for stupid reasons.

  • @thacarter1023 When you adopted your horse, DE had space and could take in more thus allowing them to get more money, so in a way your horse did indirectly put cash in DE's pocket.........I can't take down the videos, if that's what you're trying to get me to do.

  • @thacarter1023 I volunteered at DE since I was 10, I'm 18 now. I fostered Legacy until she died and adopted Eve. I made videos supporting DE for a while- some were even featured on their website. So I wouldn't lie and "slander" them as some accuse me of doing. I genuinely loved DE until I realized what messed up stuff they were doing. The Maggie, Marbles, etc. incident was so bad I couldn't understand why even after they tried to explain to me it wasn't right. Then after I....

  • @thacarter1023 got the rest of the story from Maggie's adopters, I found out DE wasn't really that great. Then the Mountain &Gatsby killing really pissed me off. Deliberately denying the horses a chance to live when transport &another rescue was willing to take them. DE isn't the only rescue. I've known 2 others- one of which did exactly the same thing DE did and both were corrupt. It's sad that horses aren't the first priority in most rescues anymore. I'm kind of done with rescues in general.

  • @legacylover2 They actually sedate a lot of horses...in that parade they had some horses were sedated for that also. If they did it before, they probably still do it. I wouldn't know since I don't go there anymore, but yeah it has happened at least twice that I know of.

  • @thacarter1023 I took pictures. I don't have to make things up to give DE a bad name, they do a pretty good job of that themselves. I'm just putting it all out there since DE doesn't. Well yes I suppose you have a point about the auctions, however DE also doesn't take horses in from there because they support the slaughter industry. I think on one of the websites I made it quotes a DE staff saying something like "sadly now that horse slaughter is banned" or something...it's on the site.

  • you say it was your horse that was drugged- do you absolutely have records for that? You are turning a lot of people away from supporting a horse rescue that does their best for the horses. As a fosterer, adopter and volunteer, I have been working with DEFHR for 9 years. I have never seen any wrong doing on their part, and unless you have absolute proof, please think about what you are alleging against one of the only capable rescues in MD.

  • those auctions function, stay alive, and keep bringing in revenue. DEFHR doesn't feed into that vicious cycle for that reason amongst others. Think about what I said- I am so sorry that horses you cared about were put down- a lot of people understand what it is like to lose a horse, myself included. But you can't blame DEFHR for trying to make the world better for the other 99% of horses in their care. As for the drugging- do you have proof? Because that would worry me, if I had evidence.

  • The owner/company that sponsors and runs the auction gets a portion of all proceeds, thus allowing more and more horses to filter in as their auction house that feeds horses to killbuyers stays in business. Many rescues do not support or 'horse shop' for their rescue horses from auctions for this reason. Camelot? scam. One person gets the proceeds from this auction and they are filthy rich. People who get their horses from here feed into their bullshit. You have to understand that this is how

  • BEFORE all of the events you point out even occured. Coincidence? I think not. If what you are saying about DEFHR was true, my horse would have been euthanized IMMEDIATELY. How can you figure that one? I don't mean to be rude, but what you are saying about DEFHR and keeping these videos up to prove a point is ridiculous. With my own experience with my brat of a horse, I completely disagree. And the auction concept is completely different as well. I assume you don't know how auctions work...
