  • is this playable on guitar? is there a transcript somewhere?

  • @WrestlingsNotFake Given the simultaneous arpeggios in the treble and moving bass lines, I think this would be quite a challenge to do on 6 strings and still maintain the full character

  • Wow! Solid interpretation! Although that farting man at 0:38 sure kills the atmosphere, doesn't he?

  • @ChronicMetamorphosis Sure sounds like someone stifling a cough and then eventually coughing, to me

  • How much do lutes cost?

and where can you get one?

I have come to a point where

I can choose a harp guitar or a bass lute

so please people help me :)

Lutes are beautiful just as much as harp guitars.

  • @RealEros1 As you might expect, a huge range. Cheapest student models usually $2000-$3000. Top of the line seldom over $9000. Several lute makers have web pages with prices (I can't put links in utube messages but google Grant Tomlinson, Ceasar Mateus, Michael Schriner and "Wayne Cripps Lutes for Sale")

  • Love it! Thank you so much for sharing!!

  • Wonderful playing as usual from Robert Barto.

This is real baroque lute music played in a way I am convinced how it must be played.

Thanks for posting all this music from these both masters!

  • @kidneykutter Yes it is quite a challenge, although I have recently transcribed and arranged a Weiss presto for six string classical guitar, I have uploaded it so please have a look when you have time, it is from one of his later sonatas and I hope to publish the music soon. Thank you for all the great videos!

  • killer presto action

  • play me for me oh son of man ,..let me hear so i can understand,.. fill my heart with misty blue ,a feeling of love from me to you ,... IS

  • Magic.

  • Now this is why I love YouTube! I've been exposed to Barto. Last week I downloaded his mp3 album of Weiss and listen to it all the time. He brings out the grandeur of the baroque era, Weiss, and the lute. Watching him play this so deftly almost distracts from the music. Both watching how this played and listening are fascinating.

  • @jlkjlk8, so let us cut all redwoods down and leave one for posterity. Seriously, I don't think Weiss pieces all sound the same any more than Vivaldi's string music sounding the same. Also I find Weiss' music more idiomatic for the lute than Bach's though Bach is a better composer.
