UPDATE: APPARENTLY IT IS THE CRAZE TO USE SONG TITLES IN HASTILY-COMPOSED SONGS ABOUT LINDA RONSTADT.
A song written with all of the songs titles from Linda Ronstadt's Greatest Hits album ("The Very Best of Linda Ronstadt") with a couple thrown in from "Greatest Hits I and II". This was written in response to the following tweet from Colin Meloy: "ok: experiment. Write a song and youtube yourself playing it and I'll post the best one here. Topic: Linda Ronstadt."
I apologize for my terrible webcam and it's terrible audio.
LYRICS:
you told me once, that i'm no good
but it's so easy to fall in love
and i feel so blue when i'm not by you (get it, blue, by you?)
i don't know much, but i know that's true
poor poor pitiful me! the tracks of my tears
making rivers to the sea
you took the blue train for a long long time
just one look back before you were gone
your heart like a wheel, it hurt so bad
you were somewhere out there
and i was still in your hand
poor poor pitiful me! the tracks of my tears
making rivers to the sea
how do i make you see? the winter light that's
shining on me?
love is like a heat wave, you said
with the beat of a different drum
after the gold rush, i said
when will i be loved?
ooh baby baby, the reason i breathe is you!
all my life all i've wanted to say
is how do i make you love me?
you called me desperado one unfortunate night
i thought it was cute, but it doesn't matter anymore
love is a rose with a thorn that stays
till you are back in the usa
chorus
You don't need a contest to know that this song is a winner - beautiful singing, so earnest, so moving... and you have the knack of faking sincerity off to a fine art :-)
