This is a visual splendor, a work of art! The sun's surface is an abstract glowing painting. I love it!

This is an amazing sight!!!... Puts the sun in a whole different light!!! (pardon the pun)

we are all dead

Wow at 0:50 the sun stops moving for a second!
:)

GokuMizuno I saw a difference in the bands as well. Also, didn't they say that speeds and activity are releated especially in sun spots?
Also @ 0:42 any ideas for the shaking?

@ShoeUnited Several items contribute to this from spacecraft roll to data glitches.

Is it just me, or by watching carefully, can the different rotation rates of the bands of the sun be observed? It looks like the equator is rotating far faster than the poles of the sun. Of course, it also looks like the equator is a lot calmer too. I wonder if there is a connection between rotation and surface activity?

@GokuMizuno
The Sun rotates on its axis once in about 27 days.
Since the Sun is a ball of gas, it does not have to rotate rigidly like the solid planets and moons do. In fact, the Sun's equatorial regions rotate faster (taking only about 24 days) than the polar regions (which rotate once in more than 30 days). The source of this "differential rotation" is an area of current research in solar astronomy.
