The pianist takes "more than enough" time to actually phrase, and it's perfect - so often people don't allow themselves to do that in this piece.

The real star here is Johannes Brahms but Mr. Cohler and Ms. Vitkauskaite play this in an especially wonderful way. Wow, what a fantastic work! I would love to play it someday.

@basso0on The more interesting question would be "Why not vibrato?" given that it was in fact Richard Muhlfeld's very expressive and large vibrato that inspired Brahms to write the piece in the first place. :-)
