Apples and oranges, my friends. Johnny did an amazing cover. As a long time Springsteen fan, I like this better, yet I love that an icon such as Johnny felt strongly enough to cover it. I'm pretty sure Bruce wouldn't have given permission for tJohnny to cover it, if he didn't fel it was an honor.

i hate those people that say,, "WOW i was at that gig,,it was awesome!!" btw,i was at this gig and it was awesome!

Cash has a way of making songs his own even if they aren't songs he wrote. Personally, I prefer the Cash version, but all props to Springsteen for writing a great song...would love to have heard Cash do Atlantic City!

I hear where you are coming from. I had to listen to Mr. Cash's several times. I think I enjoy Springsteen's version better, my husb. says the opposite. That is 100% fine. Like to some younger kids who loved Madonna's "American Pie", as many of us said "wow, she destroyed that". It's hard to think about a totally different artist do a song, from someone who u enjoy or heard it first by them. Mr. Cash made this his in a way. As well as "Hurt", who even Trent Reznor said "wow" this is Johnny's

You have to listen, a few times, honestly. Bruce (who wrote & did this song first, off Nebraska, his first acoustic CD, was actually, @ the time harshly judged by MANY, casue wasn't "HIM", it grew to be appreciated (real fans we all liked it). Took several plays to like Mr. Cash's but I do now. It does take a while. Next, "Hurt" again, had to listen a few times to. Grew to LOVE it. So did Trent (NIN), who after seeing the video & hearing it, said "this is Johnny's song now" WOW.

i'd like to think if johnny were alive he'd say he was just playing a beautiful song by a modern master. he introduced people to a classic, like Sunday Morning Coming Down years before. this is as close as we will ever get to a passing of the torch as we'll ever get. i miss Johnny so much, but i thank the powers at be for Bruce Springsteen.

Moi j'aime bien la musique country comme celle du Boss et non ce que l'on entends dans le feuilleton "Johnny texas ranger "
