These are the largest diameter tuned pipes I know of.
They're in a pentatonic scale of D.

  • These chimes are now installed in a 40' tetrahedron structure in Humboldt Park in Chico CA. The tetrahedron is made from 4' x 40' schedule 40 steel pipe. The chimes are 6.5" aluminum pipe between 6' and 9' long.

The project is called Resonance. The tetrahedron is also supported on its structural nodes which allow it to vibrate at a very low visible frequency.

  • done made me up one from possums coons and other critters dead on the road - hung me a anvil ina middle of em -didnt sound nuffin like this

  • There is a chime like this at a local nursery near Sea-Tac airport on HWY 99. That chime is even larger and has steel powder coated chimes that sound during breezes which blow up from the Puget Sound through the nursery. Does not take a lot of wind only a slight breeze, do not know what they do when it gets really windy, probably tie it down.

  • @wayhighpatrol Is the alum pipe seamless? I can find seamless pipe Nowhere!

  • The tones and there vibrato and length can be decoded into a specific unversial language. The mastering and manipulation of this language is of great use to us.

  • @watchthefaithrain they may be made of pure aluminum which a beautiful tone.

  • @wayhighpatrol Whoa...Incredible! I never knew there were wind chimes out there even larger than Basso Profundo! Oh, how I would LOVE to get my hands on a set of these...
